Ty Clarke
Trial Attorney
Ty Clarke was born and raised in West Linn, Oregon. He first became interested in civil rights law when he was 18-years-old after witnessing police officers racially profile and arrest two men while he was helping them jump their car. He strongly believes that the fight against police brutality requires advocacy in and out of the courtroom.
Ty attended Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies and minoring in English Literature and Business. After graduating, he spent a year teaching English at a public high school in Santa Marta, Colombia. He later worked as a judicial clerk at the Clackamas County Circuit Court in Oregon’s Fifth Judicial District.
Ty attended the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. While still a law student, he started working as a law clerk at the Law Offices of John Burris, where he met his supervising attorneys Adanté Pointer and Patrick Buelna. As a law clerk, Ty worked with attorneys on a number of major cases, including several that resulted in multi-million dollar settlements.
Ty began working at Lawyers for the People in August 2021. His focus is civil rights cases arising from incidents of police brutality.
Outside of work, Ty enjoys going to concerts, cooking, and scuba-diving. He loves to watch and play basketball and is a long-suffering Portland Trail Blazers fan.
